Raymond Hood, Architect

With Anthony W. Robins

[Virtual tour] Between 1924 and 1934, four major skyscraper commissions undertaken by Raymond Hood transformed New York’s architecture – the American Radiator Building on West 40th Street, the Daily News Building on East 42nd Street, the McGraw-Hill Building on West 42nd Street, and the RCA tower at Rockefeller Center. But there’s more to this story – including his youth in Pawtucket (RI), his student days in Paris, his unexpected triumph in the Chicago Tribune competition, his other commissions in New York and beyond, and his futuristic planning fantasies. Anthony W. Robins, author of New York Art Deco: A Guide to Gotham’s Jazz Age Architecture, leads this virtual tour of the life and work of this extraordinary architect.
